Gate Church

The Gate Church Community is a local church for all ages.

They call it caring about community, but actually we think it’s being church as it was intended with lots of focus on the community around us, and less on religious institutions.

We’re a great bunch who simply prefer people to programs and working to make our world closer to how God intended.

All are welcome!

Reminder todays blanket exercise starts at 10:30! Hope to see many of you there 😀IMPORTANT SERVICE TIME CHANGE
Blanket Exercise - Sunday, October 27, 10:30AM-1PM
On Sunday, October 27th we will be gathering at the Legion half an hour early at 10:30 a.m. - for a Blanket Exercise. We have two indigenous elders coming to provide the ceremony, one of which is an ordained United Church Minister. Start time is at 10:30AM, there will be no music, and it will go until approximately 1PM. Please invite your friends and family to attend.

The Blanket Exercise is based on using Indigenous methodologies and the goal is to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. Everyone is actively involved as they step onto blankets that represent the land, and into the role of First Nations, Inuit and later Métis peoples. By engaging on an emotional and intellectual level, the Blanket Exercise effectively educates and increases empathy.
